According to recent news on msmobiles.com Microsoft have dropped support for Windows Mobile and Smart Clients from Visual Studio 2010.

However, whilst there is no support currently in Visual Studio 2010 Beta 1, this does not mean that there definitely will not be in the final release of 2010.

I can see one of two things happening;

– Mobile support will be shipped with Visual Studio 2010 – it’s just not in the beta.

– Mobile development is getting it’s own IDE.

One thing I certainly know will not happen is a disappearance of it altogether. Mobile dev is very important to Microsoft’s strategy, especially now with the recent news that Windows Mobile 6.5 is finished and the recent announcements around the new Windows Mobile Marketplace, designed to compete with the IPhone’s App Store.

So, while I do wish that there was some mobile support in the beta, I don’t think it will be long before we find out where it will end up.

For those of us who use ReSharper on a daily basis and to a large extent rely on it, you will be glad to know that there is a preview on the way for Visual Studio 2010.

The ReSharper developers are currently hard at work on building in all of the understanding of the new .Net 4.0 material, such as optional parameters and named arguments.

The guys at JetBrains say that the preview will be released in June and you can get the full story from their web site.

You can see a screenshot below of ReSharper at work in the beta of Visual Studio 2010;

My current phone is a HTC Touch running Windows Mobile 6. I love my phone and I use it for many many things…..Twitter, Email, Photos, SMS, Excel, Weather………………oh yes, and as a phone of course!

Anyway, the folks over at Microsoft are currently testing a brand new service for us WM users called MyPhone. MyPhone allows you to sync virtually every item on your phone and its storage cards with the web. Amongst other things the service allows you to sync;

Contacts

Calendar

Tasks

SMS Messages

Photos

Videos

Music

Documents

Storage Cards

Once the items have been synced with the service you have the option to archive them and they will then be removed from the phone. But don’t worry you can add any item back to the phone at any time.

Basically, you will have a backup of all of your content on your phone and access to this material from the web. Perfect!

As I say, the service is only currently in beta and there is a waiting list for people to join the beta, but I have a feeling this one will be worth the wait and the initial noises from those who have tried it are all positive.

So if you’re not yet in the beta get on the wait list now.

Odd title you are thinking?? Well, I have gotten to thinking that I should write a post when I publish a new web site for any of my clients, so that I can get comments and feedback from you all.

Lakemere Environmental Services are a domestic and commercial cleaning services company, who offer amongst other things wheelie bin cleaning (hence the title).

Their web site, which I have developed using Expression Web 2, went live recently. It is written in ASP.Net / C#, has a SQL 2005 back end and uses ASP.Net Dynamic Data for the administration panel for updating news etc. The web site also features basic WorldPay integration. However, I am most pleased with the look and feel of this web site and the initial feedback from the client has been fantastic. They have already had several new online orders roll in.

So, if you want to see the web site to check out the design, or you fancy getting some wheelie bin cleaning or commercial cleaning services for yourself, I can highly recommend Lakemere Environmental Services for the job.

Seriously though, shamless plug aside, please do leave a comment and let me know what you think. I also have some more sites due to go live in the coming weeks and I will link to them as well.
