Gary.. I had the same issue when I installed for my new ssd… I stupidly overlooked boot priorities…. Just a thought

THANK YOU!! I am upgrading from Vista HP- SP2 to Win7 Ultimate- SP1, and have the same problem! I was about to reboot ans start over because it has been stuck on 21% for about 4 hours now…. I did not stop it because the hard drive LED is flashing heavily indicating it is actually doing something. Instead I booted up the laptop and entered the problem in Google and found this and many other sites with folks having the identical problem!! And the multitudinous responses were all the same WAIT! It may take up to 15-20 hours, but it will finish!

I love knowledge bases!!

Well, my computer reboots at 21%, comes back into the “Windows is starting” screen, then gives the BSOD! This happens in all cases with all methods. Any advice on how to proceed?

Happens with the 32bit version as well. I had the issue with the 32bit version.

Stuck in 97%… Has been stuck in here for an hour… Its 64bit problem only, I installed 32bit version earlier, it was over in 15min total… My comp specs, 3,3ghz 3 core processor, 500gb hdd and 8gb ram..

upgrading to Win 7. stuck at 18% for 1.5 hours! found this site– thankfully.

pushed eject on my DVD-R drive, reinserted disk. about a minute later, started slowly moving upwards! now i’m at 51%, that’s past the half-way point!
wish me luck…

Thanks for the comments here – I was tearing my hair out in frustration..
Upgrading from Vista Business to 7 Prof and it stuck at 21% for the best part of an hour – patience helped and it’s now at 37%..
So as has been said many times, hang in there.
Out of interest I did eject the DVD and reinsert but don’t think it had any discernible effect..
